Scorpions es una banda alemana de hard rock y heavy metal, fundada en Hannover en el año 1965, siendo la primera banda de hard rock nacida en el país germano.

En su inicio se denominaban Nameless (los sin nombres), luego cambiaron a The Scorpions hasta que a fines de 1969 deciden denominarse simplemente Scorpions. La primera producción discográfica de la banda fue el LP Lonesome Crow en 1972, con los hermanos Schenker en las guitarras. Al año siguiente Michael Schenker se retira de la banda y en su reemplazo se integra el guitarrista Uli Jon Roth, para grabar los siguientes discos de la banda Fly to the Rainbow en 1974, In Trance en 1975, Virgin Killer en 1976, Taken by Force en 1977.

El sonido de la banda en la década de los 70's fue de un hard rock/heavy metal, con toques de rock psicodélico y vocalizaciones potentes, logrando un sonido mucho más estridente y duro que el de los trabajos posteriores, ya inclinados a una corriente más comercial

La banda ha logrado vender 75 millones de álbumes en el mundo.
